INSTITUTION INTRODUCTION

Our organization is a youth cooperative located in Gwangju.
We operate a Makerspace where cooperative members can create items by providing them with necessary equipment such as 3D printers, pottery kilns, laser cutters, and various woodworking and metalworking tools. Additionally, we conduct Maker workshops to facilitate their creative endeavors.
Furthermore, we develop and implement Maker education programs to spread Maker culture within the local community. We also visit underserved areas such as rural and mountainous regions where Maker education is lacking, helping children engage in hands-on activities.
In addition to these activities, we plan and execute Maker events, conduct practical research to address every day and societal issues, and serve as a supportive entity for cooperative startups. We also act as mentors to propagate Maker culture and its values.
A message from a local organization representative
"Our primary motivation for running the cooperative is fun and excitement.
Imagining who you'll meet and anticipating what you'll create brings out the fun.
1.Create companions. When you share whimsical ideas, you'll eventually find hope.
2.Focus on yourself. What I want to do ultimately depends on me.
I wanted to share these two stories with creators.
If you're interested in building a healthy organization while engaging in Maker activities together, please consider joining our cooperative!"

■ Recommended Travel Destinations

1.Penguin Village
Yangnim-dong's Penguin Village Craft Street has transformed from a village of the 70s and 80s into an exhibition space. Following penguin-shaped signs, you'll find yourself entering narrow alleyways. The name "Penguin Village" originated from elderly residents likening their awkward walking due to knee discomfort to penguins. Village residents began clearing and exhibiting abandoned houses and discarded items on neighborhood walls, previously neglected due to fire. Various workshops such as leather, fiber, and woodworking occupy the craft street, where you can purchase or experience beautiful handicrafts. "Let's be grateful for the time when those days were alive." Visit this art street where past and present coexist.

2.Uchi Park Zoo
Gwangju's Uchi Park Zoo offers a variety of animals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, and tigers, along with interactive programs for visitors to participate in. It's a great place for families to visit, where you can see mammals, birds, reptiles, and more all in one place within the zoo.

3.Mt. Mudeung
Known as the guardian mountain of Gwangju, Mt. Mudeung is so lofty that its height defies measurement, and its unparalleled beauty renders it beyond classification. The terrain is gentle and rounded, featuring three prominent peaks: Cheonwangbong, Jiwangbong, and Inwangbong, collectively known as the "Three Grand Peaks." Around these peaks, there are rock formations, temples, and facilities such as national parks and natural recreation forests for people to relax and enjoy. In autumn, Mt. Mudeung boasts magnificent landscapes with autumn foliage and silver grass, while winter offers breathtaking scenes of frost and snow-covered peaks, attracting many visitors.
