    Project Dedicated Host Introduction

    Host: Su-jin Hong, PD

Su-jin Hong, who directly oversees this project, served as the Tourism Dure PD in Gokseong County from 2014 to 2018, totaling about 5 years. Originally from Busan, she fell in love with the charm of "Gokseong's uniqueness" and the life within the village, establishing herself in Gokseong. With a passion to further promote local charm, she began her role as a Tourism Dure PD. Among her various activities, the "Resident Travel Agent" program, created in collaboration with residents, stands out, showcasing experimental and unique tourism programs and festivals known only to locals. Since her tenure as a Tourism Dure PD, she has expanded her activities as a regional tourism expert, focusing on Gokseong and Jeolla Province.

If you have ideas that embody local essence and want to see them realized, dare to take the challenge. We await planners who will unfold their unique ideas on the stage that has hosted a variety of vibrant projects in Gokseong.

      • Tourism Dure Initiative: A project supporting tourism businesses to enable residents to produce and sell various resources unique to their region.
    •
      • Tourism Dure PD: Plays a crucial role in the Tourism Dure initiative by closely supporting local conditions and resident businesses, including discovery, organization, capacity enhancement, startup and business improvement, and network building tailored to the conditions of the region and resident businesses.

    Location Overview

    Location Introduction

    LOCATION:   SOUTH KOREA, Gokseong

Located in the northeastern part of Jeollanam-do, Gokseong County is characterized by flatlands centered around the Seomjin River and numerous winding valleys. The name "Gokseong" (谷城) originates from its abundant rural valleys ("gok" meaning valley and "seong" meaning castle), but there are also stories suggesting it was once called "Gokseong" (哭聲) due to the unfortunate reputation of those who used to deceive people with fake cries in the past. Known as the backdrop for the film "Gokseong," this place attracts attention not only for its cinematic atmosphere but also for its warmth and coziness. In May, visitors can enjoy the fully blooming rose garden and experience nostalgic train rides, which are popular among families and people of all ages. Exploring hidden treasures that have yet to be discovered by many, and tasting local specialties such as freshwater crab, ayu fish, and toran, will make your trip to Gokseong even more enjoyable.
