    INSTITUTION INTRODUCTION

This institution is a temple founded when the monk Cheolgam Seonsa returned from China during the reign of King Gyeongmun of Silla and was struck by the beauty of the surrounding mountains and waters.

Due to the presence of two peaks in front and behind the temple grounds, it was named Ssangbongsa, meaning "Temple of Twin Peaks."

Inside the temple grounds, various cultural treasures such as Daeungjeon Hall, Geukrakjeon Hall, the relics of Monk Cheolgam Seonsa, and his memorial pagoda are preserved. In 2014, it was designated as a cultural heritage site of Jeollanam-do Province.

    Local institution representative's message

    1.Seryangje

Seryangje, located in Hwasun, is a small reservoir famous among amateur photographers for its scenes of mist rising over the water and cherry blossoms. In spring, the picturesque view of cherry blossoms, pine, and birch trees blending with the mist-covered reservoir is fantastic. Thanks to these stunning landscapes, it was listed as one of the "50 must-visit places in Korea" by CNN. If you visit Hwasun, don't forget to bring your camera and tripod and head towards Seryangje!

    2.Mudeungsan Flock of Sheep Ranch

As the first nature-friendly tourist ranch in Honam, following in the footsteps of Daegwallyeong in Gangwon Province, visitors can experience nature by interacting directly with numerous herds of sheep grazing on the lush green meadows, feeding them and even touching them freely. It's a joyful tourist destination where you can take photos, play freely, and commune with nature, reconnecting with your pure inner child.

The Hwasun Dolmen Site is highly regarded as an exceptional archaeological site showcasing the funerary and ritual remains from 2,000 to 3,000 years ago, attributed to leaders from the prehistoric era. The site's exceptional preservation includes a quarry that demonstrates the stone-working techniques, construction, and transportation methods used in erecting dolmens, making it an important site for understanding the technology of that time.
